Committee Charge

The CTN Subcommittee is an advisory/working committee provided for under the NRGOncology Protocol Support (PS) Committee to facilitate the goals and provide support withquality control of protocol-related activities, education and training of NRG Oncology memberson relevant topics and mentorship. The committee meets twice a year at the NRG Oncologymeetings and via conference calls as needed. CTNs who want to become members mustsubmit an application. Requests for applications will be sent out from NRG Oncologyperiodically. The PSC will serve as the selection committee to review applications along withaccrual rate, delinquency rate and audit status of the institution with which the CTN isaffiliated. These criteria, along with consideration for the representative make-up of thecommittee in terms of geographic location and type of institution will be used to selectmembers.

Primary goals and objectives: 
  • Provide clinical trial nursing oversight to protocol development andimplementation.
  • Prospective review of all proposed concepts/protocols for clinically relevantmatters. 
  • Identify patient care issues that impact protocols. 
  • Identify nursing issues (symptom management and therapy administration) thatimpact patient compliance on protocols. 
  • Ongoing clinical oversight. 
  • In collaboration with the PSC and Clinical Research Associate (CRA)Subcommittee coordinate educational programs to address clinical trial topics. 
  • Provide clinical mentorship to members.

Terms of Committee Membership

  • The term of membership for the CTN subcommittee will follow direction provided byNRG Oncology leadership. 
  • Members who have not been able to attend meetings (conference calls or GroupMeetings), contribute to committee projects, or support the primary goals andobjectives of the committee during the first two years of membership will be asked toreconsider their commitment to the committee.

Committee Member Responsibilities

  • Attend CTN Subcommittee meetings at the NRG Oncology Group Meetings. 
  • Participate in CTN Subcommittee conference calls. 
  • Active involvement in one of the four PSC Working Groups (Protocol Review, Educationand Training, Quality Control, Mentorship.) 
  • Serve on disease site or scientific core committees as assigned and report back tocommittee. 
  • Serve as a liaison between PSC and NRG CTN/CRA Members at large.
