NRG NCORP Selects CCDR Pilot Project Awardee

July 13 2022

NRG Oncology NCORP solicited pilot projects earlier this year to address NRG NCORP Cancer Care Delivery Research (CCDR) priorities. NRG NCORP is pleased to announce that a proposal from Dr. Lili Zhang was selected to receive this award. The awards fund work that have high potential to lead to a competitive NRG CCDR concept to address study implementation feasibility and portability to diverse community-based practices.

Project Title: Pilot study to characterize the feasibility and short-term outcomes of risk-guided cardio-oncology referral in lung cancer survivors following thoracic radiotherapy

Dr. Zhang leads the Cardio-Oncology program in the Montefiore Health System/Albert Einstein College of Medicine and collaborates extensively with oncologists at the clinical and research levels. Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on cardiotoxicity of cancer treatment in multiracial populations with an overarching goal of improving cardiovascular outcomes and reducing racial disparities in cancer patients. This pilot project proposes to address cardiovascular risk in lung cancer survivors post thoracic radiotherapy using a risk-guided approach.
