FORTE: National Cancer Prevention Month 2024

February 12 2024

February is National Cancer Prevention Month. As clinical research professionals, those working on FORTE understand how important it is to recognize and highlight cancer prevention clinical trials as part of the cancer prevention discussion. Spread the message that FORTE aims to answer the following question: Should people who had 1 or 2 small, benign polyps removed during colonoscopy have their repeat colonoscopy exam at 10 years or should they have their repeat colonoscopy exams at both 5 and at 10 years? FORTE is needed because the best timing for a repeat colonoscopy is not known.

Next month is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month! Start preparing now to highlight FORTE with your clinical research networks and patients. Promote this important colorectal cancer prevention clinical trial through newsletters, mailings, broadcasts, social media, and other available outlets at your site.

Introductory Phone Call Script (version 10/03/23)

Research staff working on NRG-CC005 have previously requested a phone script for use when reaching out to potentially eligible patients on behalf of FORTE. The CIRB has approved a FORTE Introductory Phone Call Script for use by research professionals when conducting an initial phone call with such patients. Staff may find this document on CTSU under NRG-CC005 > CIRB Approved Documents à Introductory Phone Call Script (version 10/03/23). Review local IRB guidelines to determine whether use of this script would require local IRB approval.
