NRG Oncology seeks to fill the position of Chair, NRG Oncology Pharmacy Subcommittee

The NRG Oncology Pharmacy Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the Medical Oncology Committee, one of NRG Oncology’s seven Scientific Core Committees. The Scientific Core Committees support the Cancer Disease Site Committees, assist in protocol development, provide special expertise relevant broadly to NRG Oncology’s scientific agenda irrespective of tumor type, and provide guidance for quality control of clinical trials and translational science projects. The Pharmacy Subcommittee supports NRG Oncology’s disease sites and protocol development with pharmacy-specific input including drug information and toxicity management.

NRG Oncology is seeking a Chair to lead the Pharmacy Subcommittee, in its mission to facilitate safe, compliant conduct of multi-institutional clinical trials, offering expertise on drug handling and administration ensure the safe, effective, and timely implementation of emerging technologies across NCTN trials.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the Pharmacy Subcommittee in aligning its expertise with the goals of NCTN clinical trials and NRG Oncology activities.
• Review new concepts, protocols, and amendments to ensure safety and feasibility.
• Monitor and prioritize subcommittee activities, allocate resources, and delegate responsibilities to meet timelines and goals.
• Promote consistent quality assurance practices and contribute to protocol reviews across trials.
  • Assign Pharmacy Subcommittee Liaisons to disease site committees
• Ensure active engagement of committee members and foster inclusive participation in protocol development and strategic planning.
• Represent the subcommittee in cross-disciplinary initiatives, NCTN-wide discussions, and NRG Oncology meetings.
• Organize semiannual pharmacy subcommittee meetings and coordinate regular meetings with the pharmacy subcommittee.
• Engaging across NRG Oncology; liaising with other committee chairs, participating in NRG Oncology meetings by attending both in-person semiannual meetings and interim virtual meetings, keeping NRG Oncology Group Chairs informed of trends, challenges, concerns of note, and opportunities.
  • Report to the Chair, Medical Oncology Committee.
• Contribute to the development and editing of scientific grants, including the NRG Oncology core grant.
• Serve as an advocate for NRG Oncology in all affairs.
• Support the conduct of activities that are compliant with regulations, NRG Policies and Procedures, and practices that ensure potential conflicts are disclosed and managed.
• Facilitate the preparation, review and updating of drug resources for the NRG Oncology investigators/members.
• Assist with mitigation of drug shortages related to ongoing clinical trials

NRG Oncology Committee Chairs must be at an NRG Oncology Member Institution and eligible to receive federal funding. Nominal funds from federal grants to offset related effort and travel to NRG Oncology meetings are provided. Committee/subcommittee Chairs are appointed by the NRG Oncology Group Chairs for a six-year term, renewable once.
