NRG Oncology seeks a dynamic and collaborative leader to serve as Chair of the International Members Subcommittee.  The Chair will provide strategic leadership for the engagement, and integration of International Members within NRG Oncology’s scientific, operational, and educational activities.  The Chair will promote global participation in NRG Oncology clinical trials, foster partnerships with international stakeholders, and help advance the organization’s mission of improving cancer outcomes through innovative, practice-changing research.  The Chair will work closely with NRG Oncology Group leadership, disease site committees, operations and membership leadership, and International Members to ensure that international perspectives are represented in the development and conduct of NRG Oncology research programs.

The NRG Oncology International Members Subcommittee is part of the NRG Oncology Membership Committee and seeks to support the success of International Members in their participation within NRG Oncology and across both the National Clinical Trials Network and the National Community Oncology Research Program.

The International Members Subcommittee is a forum for working through barriers to participation specific to International Members.  This forum allows NRG Oncology to work with and support the engagement of diverse and engaged International Members through understanding and addressing the sometimes unique regulatory, administrative, or other barriers to accrual specific to this community.

The principal responsibilities of the Chair of the International Members Subcommittee include:

• Provide assistance to the International Members and engaging the international membership community.
• Maintain International Member involvement.
• Develop actionable recommendations to address barriers to global trial participation.
• Foster collaborative relationships that strengthen NRG Oncology’s international presence and impact.
• Provide a framework for collaborative participation designed to support the development and/or conduct of timely, feasible, and innovative clinical trials.
• Monitor the developing, active, and yet-to-be published studies or committee activities.
• Support inclusive and engaged members, supportive of broad input, cross-committee communications, operational processes, and timely engagement of liaisons.
• Support the mentoring and training of young and/or new investigators who are interested in working with NRG Oncology.
• Serve as an advocate for NRG Oncology in all affairs.
• Engage across NRG Oncology; liaise with other committee chairs, participate in NRG Oncology meetings by attending in-person semiannual meetings and interim virtual meetings, and keep NRG Oncology Group Chairs informed of trends, changes, or concerns of note.
• Collaborate with NRG Oncology leadership and members to write and edit scientific grants to support NRG Oncology research activities, including NRG Oncology grants when applicable.
• Attend Membership Committee meetings and report on the activities of the International Subcommittee.
• Support the conduct of activities that are compliant with regulations, NRG Oncology Policies and Procedures, and practices that ensure potential conflicts are disclosed and managed.

NRG Oncology Committee Chairs must be at an active NRG Oncology Member Institution in good standing and eligible to receive federal funding.  Nominal funds from federal grants to offset travel costs to NRG Oncology meetings is provided.  Committee Chairs are appointed by the NRG Oncology Group Chairs for a six-year term, renewable once.
