Patient Reported Outcomes – Compliance Improvement Semi-Annual Recognition
11/12/2025
Written by Ben Movsas, MD – PCOR Committee Chair; Ron Chen, MD – PCOR Committee Vice-Chair; Kandie Dempsey, DBA, MS, RN, OCN; & Marcie Ritter, PhD – NRG Patient Reported Outcomes Compliance Officers.
The Patient Centered Outcomes Research Committee (PCOR), and NRG NCORP Committee congratulates the over 500 sites participating in NRG clinical trials who achieved 90% or greater compliance for Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) assessments on the report dated September 1, 2025. PROs are vital components of our NRG studies that directly reflect the patient’s voice and their quality of life!
PRO Compliance is determined as the percentage of expected PROs that a site collects. This compliance report was designed to reflect only those assessments that sites could have been expected to collect during the 24-month period, September 2023 through August 2025.
The PCOR committee is also pleased to announce that in early 2025, a PRO Education eLearning Module was launched that provides sites with electronic on-demand access to training. The eLearning is available through CLASS on CTSU. We encourage sites to have all new research associates complete the program, and it may also be a helpful refresher to more experienced team members.
Resources for collecting Patient Reported Outcomes and Neurocognitive function assessments are available on the NRG Oncology public home page, Data Management Resources section https://www.nrgoncology.org/About-Us/Statistics-and-Data-Management-Center-SDMC-/Data-Management-Resources.
We would like to thank the investigators and personnel at the sites who, as a team, follow the protocol requirements, monitor study calendars and requirements to ensure data is submitted as required, and if not, to contact patients personally as needed, and those who ensure that protocol participants have the correct tools downloaded to their devices. Click here to download a list of NRG sites with PRO compliance above 90.
We appreciate your contributions that help to ensure PRO data is collected in a timely manner. Please know that NRGs’ persistence in contacting sites is contributing to significant improvement in study outcomes. Finally, please reach out to the PRO Compliance Officers, Kandie Dempsey, or Marcie Ritter, who are providing oversight for this initiative if assistance is needed. We cannot do this without you! Thanks!
