Mei-Yin C. Polley, PhD Re-elected to Serve as the Biostatistician on the NCI Head & Neck Steering Committee

Dr. Polley was recently re-elected to serve a second three-year term as the Biostatistician on the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Head and Neck Steering Committee (HNSC). The HNSC is one of the NCI/NCTN Scientific Steering Committees (SSCs) that are composed of leading cancer experts, community oncologists, biostatisticians, translational scientists, patient advocates, and NCI senior investigators. Through her role on the NCI HNSC, she will continue to participate on monthly meetings to address the prioritization, design, and evaluation of concepts for phase 2 and 3 clinical trials within the NCTN head and neck disease site.

Dr. Polley is the Head of the Statistics Division of the NRG Statistics and Data Management Center (SDMC) and the Lead Statistician of the NRG Brain Tumor committee. She is Associate Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Chicago. Her primary research interests include the design, conduct, analysis and monitoring of all phases of cancer clinical trials, biomarker reproducibility, innovative group sequential methods for biomarker validation, prognostic and predictive modeling, and biomarker-based clinical trial designs. In addition to the HNSC, Dr. Polley also serves on the NCI/NCTN Lymphoma Steering Committee (LYSC), the Pediatric and Adolescent Solid Tumor Steering Committee (PASTSC), the Breast Oncology Local Disease (BOLD) Task Force, and the Breast Immuno-Oncology (BIO) Task Force.
