NRG-GY037 Aims to Advance Outcomes in High-Risk Cervical Cancer
05/12/2026
Accrual to NRG-GY037, a randomized phase III trial evaluating neoadjuvant pembrolizumab with carboplatin/paclitaxel followed by chemoradiation plus pembrolizumab versus chemoradiation with concurrent and adjuvant pembrolizumab, continues to gain strong national momentum. This study targets patients with high-risk, locally advanced cervical cancer and builds on the practice-changing results of KEYNOTE-A18, aiming to optimize sequencing and integration of immunotherapy with definitive chemoradiation. Participating sites have demonstrated enthusiasm for the trial’s design, particularly given its potential to refine standards of care in a population with significant unmet need.
Importantly, NRG-GY037 reflects a collaborative effort across institutions to advance both clinical and translational science. The trial incorporates robust radiation therapy quality assurance with centralized pre-treatment review to ensure protocol compliance, alongside comprehensive biospecimen collection to support biomarker-driven analyses, including ctDNA and HPV-associated circulating tumor DNA. As accrual continues, the study is well positioned to answer critical questions regarding treatment intensification, sequencing strategies, and personalization of therapy, with the ultimate goal of improving survival outcomes while minimizing unnecessary toxicity for patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.
