The Protocol Support Committee recognizes that the tasks of the four working groups are diverse and the time commitment required of the members will vary. The groups will hold monthly conference calls initially and work independently to accomplish the tasks charged to the working group. A brief description of the working groups is available below.
Education and Training Working Group
This working group will develop educational programs for the nurses and CRAs attending the NRG meetings; create protocol specific tools to educate research staff about protocol requirements; conduct training programs such as orientation for new members and protocol training workshops.
Mentorship Working Group
This working group will develop a mentor program that will provide individual support from experienced members who will assist with the conduct of clinical trials and promote quality control.
Protocol Review Working Group
This working group will prospectively review protocols for clinically relevant matters; identify patient care issues that impact protocols; identify nursing issues (symptom management and therapy administration) that impact patient compliance with the protocol; identify potential barriers to protocol accrual.
Quality Control Working Group
Identify and promote best practices; identify protocol compliance and audit issues; utilize the Mentor Program and NRG educational programs to resolve compliance and data issues.
