The First Lady of the United States and NCI Leadership Highlight the Importance of NCORP on World Cancer Day

February 12 2021

On February 4, 2021, the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, Ed.D, along with National Cancer Institute (NCI) leadership hosted a virtual event celebrating the internationally-recognized World Cancer Day; a day dedicated to education, awareness, and support of cancer research. The NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) was spotlighted for the program’s ongoing progress and successes with bringing clinical research to a broader range of diverse communities and engaging patients through their vast network of community sites. During the presentation, the NCORP Director, Worta McCaskill-Stevens, MD, MS, mentioned that 40 percent of all clinical trial participants enrolled in NCI trials come from the NCORPs. NRG Oncology is truly appreciative of the initiatives of our NCORP program and excitedly anticipate their continued advancements in outreach.
