Dr. Bauman named Co-Chair of the NCI Cancer Prevention Steering Committee

Julie Bauman, MD, MPH was recently appointed as Co-Chair of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)’s Cancer Prevention Steering Committee (CPSC). In her role as Co-Chair, Dr. Bauman will be guiding the CPSC as the Committee addresses and reviews the design, prioritization, and evaluation of innovative cancer prevention, screening, and surveillance concepts for clinical trials across several diverse patient populations within the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP).

Dr. Bauman is the Chief of Hematology/Oncology and Deputy Director at the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC), co-leader of the Therapeutic Development Program, and a research member of the cancer prevention and control program. She is the Study Chair for NRG Oncology NRG-HN003 and RTOG 1216, a phase I and phase III trial respectively, evaluating the addition of anti-PD1/L1 immunotherapy to adjuvant chemoradiation in patients with pathologic high risk squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. Dr. Bauman is also Vice Chair of the NRG Oncology Cancer Prevention and Control Committee.

Dr. Bauman is the Co-Principal Investigator of the UACC Cancer Prevention Clinical Trials Network, which tests novel cancer prevention agents in early phase clinical trials. In 2011, she received the NCI Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award.
